NBT Blocks

NBT blocks are high performance environmental materials for internal and external walls. They are part of the NBT systems but in certain applications can be used as stand alone products. NBT blocks are of two sorts:

Fired clay: Thermoplan
The Thermoplan blocks are extruded with vertical perforations. Sawdust and polystyrene particles are mixed in with the clay mixture which burn away during firing, giving a micro-porous structure. The combination of voids and pores gives the blocks their unique thermal properties.

The blocks are available in a full range of sizes, shapes, widths and densities and are suitable for almost all masonry applications in low rise residential and commercial construction.

The Thermoplan system gives:
1 - excellent thermal and airtightness performance, according to new part L, with very low y values.

2 - a modern method of construction which is easy and foolproof.

3 - very quick construction, typically 3 x faster than cavity walling.

4 - a system which is highly cost efficient.

5 - breathing construction.

6 - a building process which is virtually dry so the wall is immediately ready for finishing without the risk of long term drying out shrinkage.

7 - very little wastage of material because of the large range of special blocks and the ease of accurate cutting.

8 - cost effective construction using render and plaster wall finishes to provide air and weather tightness and additional thermal insulation.

9 - a cost efficient and robust form of construction that exceeds building regulations without cavities, membranes or additional insulation.

10 - all round performance with internal blocks being used for Part E approved separating wall types and all blocks are non-combustible providing 30 - 120 minutes fire resistance.
