clay boards

our clay boards are a composite of clay, reed and Hessian. The reeds come from managed reed beds and run along and across the board length. The board is faced and backed with Hessian, acting as a reinforcement and a plaster key.

Clay boards are suitable for internal use in drywall construction on walls and ceilings. It is a practical alternative to using gypsum plasterboard and lath-and-plaster, and is compatible with clay or lime based plaster.

When used on walls the clay board must be screwed to supports at not greater than 600mm centres. When used on ceilings the clay boards must be screwed to supports spaced at not greater than 400mm centres.

These boards regulate temperature, absorb moisture and odours and insulate against sound transfer and are great as part of a ‘breathing’ wall construction
