A modern wall insulation system must do more than just protect buildings from cold. They should help create a comfortable and healthy environment in all possible combinations of external and internal conditions, and also control the effects of external heat, cold, noise and internal moisture generation. That is just what these boards can do! pavatex woodfibre boards are made from 99.5% waste softwood and 0.5% water proofing additives, and are a genuinely sustainable non toxic building material. They are made by pulping waste wood fibres and mixing them with water. The pulp is heated to activate the lignin and so glue the boards together, and hen the pulp is pressed into boards and cut to size. There are a range of boards known by a variety of product names – Diffutherm, Pavatherm, Isolair etc, but they are all variations of a simple theme for a range of uses. The advanced manufacturing process uses the inherent properties of woodfibres to produce boards with many excellent technical qualities for thermal and acoustic insulation, thermal storage capacity, vapour permeability and moisture control. Different density sheets are laminated together and the boards interlock on all edges to optimise their mechanical properties, strength and stability. pavatex woodfibre boards are supplied with fully compatible fixings, renders and accessories for all types of wall applications. The system is backed up by full design and installation guidance. pavatex can be used for new buildings, applied directly to timber or steel stud frames and to all types of solid masonry. It can be used for internal or external insulation, for refurbishment of existing masonry and traditionally framed timber buildings. The diffutherm system adds the effect of thermal mass to lightweight buildings and provides a fully ‘breathable’ method for upgrading solid walls.
